March in Damascus demands freedom for Öcalan

People in Damascus protested against the isolation imposed on the Kurdish People's Leader

A demonstration has taken place in the Zorava neighborough in Damascus, the Syrian capital, to condemn the isolation regime imposed by the Turkish state on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Hundreds of people took part in the march and many shopkeepers shut down their windows in solidarity with the march.

People chanted slogans against the Turkish state.

After the march, TEV-DEM executive, Mihemed Ibiş, condemned the ongoing isolation imposed on the Kurdish People's Leader. "The Turkish state - he said - wants to obstaculate the reaching of peace in the region and the peaceful co-existence of peoples trough this isolation policy".
