Mayor of Rotterdam: Turkish Consul General lied to us

While Dutch Prime Minister stated that the Turkish government has done everything it can to get the events out of hand, Mayor of Rotterdam said "Turkey's Rotterdam Consul General tried to fool me and lied as he said 'No ministers are coming.'"

During a TV show this morning, the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte evaluated the developing process as Turkish ministers were not allowed to carry out a referendum campaign in the Netherlands.

Rutte stated that he called the Turkish Prime Minister Binalı Yıldırım eight times on Saturday regarding the developments, and described the Turkish President Erdoğan's accusation of the Netherlands as 'Nazi remnants' as unacceptable.

Rutte noted that Turkey's description of the Turks in the Netherlands as 'our citizens' was not a right discourse, and said "They are Dutch citizens" as he described this issue as the most important problem between the two countries.

Prime Minister Rutte stated that the declaration of AKP minister Kaya as 'persona non-grata' and Kaya's deportation were rightful acts. He said "Unlike the Turkish government's claims, the minister had no diplomatic immunity."

TURKISH MINISTER TRIED TO ELUDE THE POLICE

The Dutch Prime Minister remarked that Kaya tried different methods to elude the police after her arrival in Rotterdam.

Rutte praised the atttitude of Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and the Dutch police, and thanked them for the deportation of Minister Kaya.

The Dutch Prime Minister also touched upon the provocations of AKP groups in Rotterdam on Saturday evening and said "Everybody should know their place."
