The metal workers union, Birleşik Metal-Iş, issued a written statement to confirm that its Central Collective Labor Agreement Commission met to evaluate the offer made by MESS (Turkish Employers'​ Association of Metal Industries).

The commission suggested the rejection of the offer and the union's General Management Board decided to "go ahead with the strike."

The vote ended with 20 factory representatives in favour of the strike and 17 in favour of accepting the offer made by MESS.

In light of the vote, metalworkers will go on strike on 5 February.

Around 10,000 metal industry workers from 41 factories in 11 provinces will go on strike.
