Military activity increasing in the Kurdish region

According to the information received from local sources, Turkish military launched an operation in the rural areas near Mardin's Ömerli district on Thursday evening. The air supported operation was joined by some four thousand soldiers including special operation teams.

The operation which started at 18:00 local time was launched in the region of Dönerdere (Mezre) and Fıstıklı (Şehmahmut) villages in Ömerli (Mahserte) district and Dereyanı (Şure), Çınaraltı (Rısine) villages near Mardin.

On the other hand, a number of military vehicles departed from the military post in Dersim late Thursday night. The vehicles carried soldiers wearing Robocop suits.

Special operation teams are recently standing guard with armored vehicles on the Kemerbel Bridge in late every night, followed by the intense activity of Turkish helicopters in and around Dersim province in the early morning hours.

The province of Hakkari and its districts have also witnessed an intense military activity in recent days.

A number of armored military vehicles, reportedly coming from Van, headed towards the Çukurca district yesterday evening. The military convoy was also followed by many helicopters along the Zap Valley.

No information has been obtained yet as to what was carried in the military vehicles.
