Turkish army has launched an operation targeting guerrilla areas in the rural areas of Esendere at the border of Hakkari's Yüksekova district at 8 am today.

People's Defense Forces Press and Communication Centre (HPG-BIM) said in a written statement that Turkish military launched howitzer and mortar attacks, to which guerrillas responded by opening a warning fire earlier today.

As the mortar attacks continued, guerrillas kept the warning fire going till 10 am against the operation the Turkish military intended to conduct.

HPG-BIM reported While guerrillas acted with sensibility against provocations and military activities in this region, Turkish troops retreated from the area at around 2 pm.
