Turkish army has started an operation in rural areas in Savur district of Mardin.

Large numbers of special operation police teams are also reported to be joining the wide-scale military operation which has been launched in an area involving the villages of Serenli (Dengiza), Taşlık (Cirzê), Sürgücü (Êwina) and Yazır (Dêrîş).

Armored vehicles have been deployed in mountainous terrains as part of the operation which started at 9 am this morning.

Check points have also been set up in the mentioned villages by the Turkish military.
