In a written statement about the recent military activities in the Kurdish region, People's Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM said that the Turkish army launched an operation in Hakkari's Yüksekova district on 28 August.

HPG remarked that the operation was launched around the Sılort hill in rural areas of Yüksekova. The operation -it added- started at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and lasted till 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

The operation -HPG said- was carried out by two units each of which was constituted by 50 soldiers.

HPG remarked that the Turkish military is also continuing to lay ambushes near the Radar and Sineht hills in the rural areas of Şırnak's Uludere district.

HPG added that Turkish warplanes flew over the Zap region of guerrilla-controlled Media Defense Areas on 27-28 August.
