MMC Spokesperson said Manbij celebrates Newroz with the colors of spring today, adding; “Newroz is a new day for the people of Manbij. Freed from terror thanks to the sacrifices of martyrs and youths, people are revived with the spirit of Newroz.”
Celebrations to welcome the Kurdish New Year Newroz have begun in the Manbij city with the Newroz fire lit by the mothers of martyrs.
Thousands of civilians from Manbij and surroundings as well as Kobanê and Cizre Cantons Democratic Autonomous Administration, and delegations from TEV-DEM and Kongreya Star are joining the celebration.
Speaking here, Manbij Military Council Spokesperson Shervan Derwîsh stated that they will be a shield for the protection of their region, prevent a return to darkness, and defend the people.
Derwîsh relayed the following message of fighters on the battlefront: “We celebrate Newroz on behalf of the fighters defending Manbij, and wish a happy Newroz to all the peoples in Northern Syria. We celebrate the Newroz of Leader Öcalan who lights our path.”
Recalling the history of Newroz, MMC Spokesperson said: “The fire of Newroz was lit 2600 years ago against cruelty, oppression and terror. This spirit of historic resistance is renewed today in Manbij which is decorated with the colors of spring today., freed of the darkness. Newroz has become a new day for the people of Manbij.”
Lastly, Shervan Derwîsh said “We reiterate our promise of resistance. On behalf of thousands of fighters at the fronts of resistance, we celebrate Newroz; the day of freedom. Manbij is free thanks to its youth, despite those those that want to bring it back into darkness. Long live the fraternity of peoples!”
