Police forces have raided a number of houses and institutions, and detained many people in İzmir, Adana, Erzurum, Kars, Hakkari, Bitlis and Van this morning.
İZMİR
Simultaneous house-raids were conducted by police across İzmir province, mainly in Gaziemir, Bornova, Narlıdere and Bayraklı districts.
Among those taken into custody in the operation is Özgür Halk (Free Folk) Magazine staff Devrim Ayık who was detained as a result of the raid in the house of DIHA and Özgür Halk workers in Mevlana neighborhood of Bornova district.
The detainees have been taken to anti-terror branch of Konak police department.
ADANA
Police teams raided the office of People's Assembly in Fırat neighborhood of Adana's Seyhan district. Besides insulting the people in the area and messing up the office, police also opened fire on those who reacted to the raid and took down the signboard of the office. People's Assembly Spokesperson Mehmet Ali İnal was detained and released later.
On the other hand, a civilian by the name of Bekir Kabak was detained for the second time and remanded in custody in relation to the recent killing of two policemen in the city.
ERZURUM
After blockading the Qeregviç (Değirmenkaya) neighborhood of Erzurum's Karayazı district early this morning, police and special operation teams raided a number of houses and detained 20 people from the Village Commission. A 12-year-old is among the detainees.
KARS
Police teams conducted simultaneous house raids in Kağızman district of Kars, during which they terrorized the households in the targeted addresses with arms, and battered those who reacted to the detentions.
At least 7 people including DBP executives have been detained in the operation and taken to district police headquarters.
HAKKARİ
Many houses were similarly raided by police teams in Dağgöl, Sümbül and Medrese neighborhoods of Hakkari province last night. Two minors at the age of 16 and 18 were detained in the operation and taken to the Juveniles' Department of Hakkari police headquarters.
BİTLİS
A person by the name of Mahmut Mete was detained as a result of a police raid in Akkis (Çamaltı) village of Tatvan district of Bitlis province. Mete was taken to district police headquarters.
VAN
Four people, who had been detained by police while travelling in İpekyolu district of Van on September 30, were referred to the Courthouse following the finalization of their procedures at provincial police headquarters. All the four were remanded in custody on alleged grounds of "membership to a terrorist organization" and "providing arms to the organization".
İpekyolu Neighborhood Democratic People's Assembly Co-Spokesperson Mehmet Batu, who was also detained on the same day, was in the same way remanded in custody and sent to Van F Type Closed Prison on alleged grounds of "membership to a terrorist organization".
