Five prisoners in the Kalkandere L Type Prison in the Rize Province have announced they have gone on indefinite hunger strike since Monday, January 23 to protest the isolation of PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan as Peace Mothers demonstrated against Öcalan's isolation in front of the Bakýrköy Women's Closed Prison in Ýstanbul and demanded the negotiations with Öcalan be restarted.
Another demonstration for Öcalan's freedom came from Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Ankara Women's Assembly in the Capital City of Turkey. It was said in the declaration that the main focus on the International Women's Day would be the solution of the Kurdish issue and the importance of Öcalan's freedom for peace next 8th of March.
Also in Ankara, the Platform for the Struggle against Isolation (TKMP) pointed out in their demonstration that isolation is an inhuman policy of disidentification and murder, stressing the rights violations in F type isolation prisons.
