More Bashur refugees died as two boats sank off the Greek coast

The Summit (Lutke) Foundation for Refugee and Displaced Affairs announced that 9 immigrants from Bashur Kurdistan lost their lives in 2 boats that sank off the coast of Greece, and the fate of 23 of them is unknown.

The Summit (Lutke) Foundation for Refugee and Displaced Affairs issued a statement about the fate of the refugees in 3 boats that sank off the coast of Greece. Lutke said that 2 of the 3 boats were carrying citizens from Bashur Kurdistan. It was announced that 23 immigrants from the Kurdistan Region were missing and 7 were rescued from one of the boats.

Lutke also said that the bodies of 9 refugees from Bashur Kurdistan were recovered from another boat that sank. It was stated that 57 immigrants were rescued.

The first boat sank on 21 December, after taking to sea near the Greek island of Vuligandrus. 23 citizens from Bashur Kurdistan are missing while 7 were rescued.

The second boat sailed on 23 December into the Aegean Sea with over 100 migrants on board. The bodies of 9 citizens from Bashur Kurdistan were found, and 57 refugees were rescued.

A third boat sank on 24 December. It was bound for Italy when it sank in the Aegean Sea. There were no refugees from Bashur Kurdistan on the boat. 11 people lost their lives and 90 people were rescued.
