Muslim: Jihadists and their supporters defeated in Til Koçer
PYD president Salih Muslim, on a diplomatic and speaking committment in Germany, spoke about Til Koçer. “Armed jihadists - he said - weren’t the only ones that were defeated in Til Koçer, all those who support these group were likewise defeated. For 6 months Rojava was surrounded and put under a major blockade, thanks to the border gate we will break this blockade”.
Returning on the decision by the KDP to block his entry to Kurdistan from Rojava, Muslim recalled: “When I was in Hewler I was told that my passing to and from Rojava would not be a problem. Assured of this I went to Rojava to grief and attend the funeral of my son Servan. When I was to return they closed their border and for a couple of days I waited there. I know that the decision of my entry was discussed within KDP. They also told me to get out via Ankara, Damascus, Tehran or Bagdad.”
Speaking about the forthcoming Geneva II conference, Muslim said that “Kurds have always failed miserably at negotiations, the severest losses have been inflicted upon us at negotiation tables. However this time things will be different, we will not be bargained with, we will not repeat the mistakes of Lausanne at Geneva. We are well prepared this time.”
In 1923 Turkey is recognized as an independent nation, and the Treaty of Lausanne is signed, replacing the Treaty of Sèvres. Under its terms, Turkey is no longer obligated to grant Kurdish autonomy. The treaty divides the Kurdish region among Turkey, Iraq, and Syria.
The Geneva II Middle East peace conference (or Geneva II) is a proposed United Nations (UN) backed peace conference that would take place in Geneva in late 2013 with the aim of stopping the Syrian civil war and organizing a transition period and post-war reconstruction.
