Naples Mayor Luigi Magistris condemned the Turkish state’s attack against Afrin and stated that Turkey is engaged in ethnic cleansing in Afrin, calling international powers to action. Luigi de Magistris expressed concern over the attacks against Afrin and said:

“Turkey is attacking the status and gains Kurds have achieved. As a result, today hundreds of thousands of people have been victimized, dislocated and turned into refugees. There is an ethnic cleansing against Kurds in Afrin. The United Nations, the government of Italy, and the European Union must take action and stop Turkey. Turkey must be stopped and the attacks and invasion against Afrin must be prevented.”

“KURDS GOT RID OF ISIS”

Naples Mayor Luigi Magistris also pointed out the struggle of the YPG and YPJ fighters and continued: “Kurdish fighters waged a great fight against ISIS in Rojava and Syria. They rescued a city like Raqqa from this organization. They ended ISIS. We owe them our gratitude. So we send a message of solidarity to Afrin from Naples the city of peace.”
