New marches planned for truth about the 'disappeared' people of Turkey

Once again, thousands gathered in the streets of Turkey to draw attention to the recent discovery of a mass grave containing the corpses of 18 Kurds in Mutki, a district of Bitlis. Locals from Urfa, Mersin, Muþ, and Batman met yesterday to march in their towns.

Today new marches and demonstrations are expected in several cities.

The associations representing the relatives who lost their beloved ones are Mesopotamia (MEYA-DER) and Göç-Der; Peace and Democracy Party (BDP); Human Rights Association (IHD) and many NGOs; chambers and women rights organizations led the marches and intended to hold press conferences.

BDP executives and deputies attended the rally as speakers during the marches.

"Killers are going to confess," "We the mothers want our children," "We want our kids bones" and "Open the mass graves to find our children" were the words written in the many banners carried by the people.

Different proposals came out from the various demonstrations. The relatives are asking for example to set up a truth commission.

The discovery of new mass graves confirm what many people feared, all these years the state behind the disappearances simply covered up the truth.
