Repression against Kurds and Kurdish politicians has increased in the past weeks. After raiding the house of Nusaybin deputy mayor Saliha Cabadak, her and her brother Derviþ Cabadak were taken under custody. Four other people had been taken into custody in Nusaybin (Mardin) in connection with the demonstrations to mark the anniversary of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan's capture.

In the Dargeçit Town of Mardin two people were taken under custody in connection with the protests.

It is reported that a 16-year old child who was taken under custody in a house raid in Derik (Mardin) was jailed and sent to Mardin Prison. M.E. is being accused of possessing explosives on the claims that a Molotov cocktail has been found in his apartment.
