Newroz celebrated in Lavrio

The celebration began with a minute’s silence for all martyrs of the revolution as well as for Kurdish activist Uğur Şakar and prisoners Zülküf Gezen, Zehra Sağlam and Ayten Keçet who ended their life to protest the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

Hundreds of people joined the Newroz celebration in the Greek city of Lavrio.

Newroz in Lavrio was celebrated in the municipal conference hall and was attended by representatives of Kurdistan, socialist organizations and Greek political parties.

In the celebration speakers commended the hunger strike resistance demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The crowd chanted slogans in support of HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven and the YPG, YPJ and SDF that defeated ISIS.

A televised Newroz message by KCK Executive Council co-chair Cemil Bayık was broadcast and messages from HPG, YJA-Star guerrillas were read.

A banner paying tribute to the commander of MLKP, Bayram Namaz who fell martyr in Rojava, was opened by the crowd.

Artists Narinxan, Farqin, Hamid and Koma Zaroken played at the celebration.
