The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Pervin Buldan commenced the Newroz 2021 celebrations following a meeting with the Kurdish Alliance parties in Amed. The celebrations will be held in at least 61 centers.

Buldan met the members and representatives of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Kurdistan Communist Party (KKP), Human and Freedom Party (PIA), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Free Party (Partiya Azadi) and the Free Women's Movement (TJA).

NEWROZ IN 2021

Buldan made a statement and said, “I sincerely hope that the 2021 Newroz will bring peace, freedom, brotherhood and democracy to all peoples of the world. We will celebrate the Newroz of 2021 under pandemic conditions at a time when the peoples of the world need democracy, freedom, brotherhood."

Recalling that they could not celebrate Newroz due to the pandemic last year, the HDP co-chair continued, “We celebrated the most meaningful Newroz in 2013 which has historic significance for the future of this country. Mr. Öcalan's ‘Historic Newroz Statement of 2013’ was read out in Newroz celebrations in Amed during the peace process."

“ISOLATION MUST BE LIFTED IMMEDIATELY”

"If Mr. Öcalan's declaration had been taken into account, things would be different in Turkey and the Middle East," said Buldan and emphasized that the isolation on Mr. Öcalan should immediately be lifted.

"The people of Turkey seek social peace which, however, cannot be achieved through a denial of the Kurds or an imposition of bans on the language, identity and culture of the Kurds. We can only achieve true peace and democracy by respecting and acknowledging each other's identities, languages ​​and cultures. Justice, equality, freedom and democracy will definitely be realized,” Buldan added.

DTK: THE MORE THEY ATTACK, THE SOONER THEY WILL GO AWAY

DTK co-chair Bedran Öztürk stated that the Kurdish people are going through historic times. Pointing to the attacks in four parts of Kurdistan, Öztürk said, “The more they attack, the sooner they will go. Newroz is not just the arrival of spring. It represents the struggle of Kawa the Blacksmith who defeated Dehak. We cannot talk about peace without resistance. The 2021 Newroz is important for enhancing the resistance and making the 21st century the century of the Kurds. We will flare up the Newroz fire. We will break through the isolation.”

KKP: THE MOST IMPORTANT MESSAGE OF NEWROZ IS NATIONAL UNITY

KKP chairperson Sinan Çiftyürek said, "The Kurdish people, who have been exposed to genocide for a hundred years, are celebrating the Newroz. They are celebrating their achievements. Important political messages are given during the celebrations. 2021 is very important for the Kurdish people in terms of unity."

“The anti-ISIS coalition says that Bashur and Rojava (South and West Kurdistan) are one and the peshmerga and DSG are one. It considers all political structures in four parts of Kurdistan as one. The Kurds need to be one. However, we are not united. That is why the most important message of the 2021 Newroz is the Kurdish national unity,” Çiftyürek added.

AZADÎ: UNITY SHOULD BE CREATED FOR STATUS

Azadi Party chairperson Ayetullah Aşitî said, “If oppressed peoples are not united, they cannot succeed. If Kurds want to have status like other peoples, they must form a unity. We cannot achieve success in any way other than unity.”

DBP: THIS YEAR’S NEWROZ WILL BE BEGINNING

DBP co-chair Keskin Bayındır pointed out that: “The 2021 Newroz will be a beginning for the freedom and future of the Kurdish people. This year’s Newroz will be instrumental to shape Kurdish unity. We are ready as Kurdish parties. With their national clothes and courage our people should participate in Newroz celebrations to denounce the genocides, annihilation and denial policies against the Kurdish people. Therefore, participation in Newroz is very important. Happy Newroz."

As part of this year's Newroz celebrations, a song about Newroz was composed and promoted in a musical video.
