Nine parties in Spain express solidarity with the HDP

The Kurdish representative in Spain, Faruk Eyyup Doru, asked the Congress to approve an initiative for the Spanish Government to condemn the repression of the Turkish government against the HDP.

The Kurdish representative in Spain, Faruk Eyyup Doru, has received the support of Unidas Podemos, ERC, PNV, EH Bildu, JxCAT, Compromís, Más País, BNG and La CUP, that have filed a proposal not of Law of solidarity with HDP and against the "criminalization" of the 108 HDP politicians and member under trial in the so called “Kobane trial”.

The initiative urges the Spanish Government to "firmly and publicly" oppose the violation of the rule of law and to consider it unacceptable to hold elected representatives and civil society responsible for what happened in 2014, when people protested the siege of Kobane.

The proposal not of law also urges the Executive to ask the Turkish government to comply with the verdict of the European Court of Human Rights on the former HDP co-chair, Selahattin Demirtas, who have been in pre-trial detention since 2016.

In the same way, it asks to reject the trial and the provisional measures that affect 108 people under trial and to promote international delegation.

The Kurdish representative has denounced that the Turkish government is carrying out a "political trial against the HDP, which defends democracy to take revenge on those who have fought for freedom in Kurdistan" and has requested the support of all political forces Spanish to this initiative.
