No justice for Hasan Ocak

No justice for Hasan Ocak

The attorney stated that "Turkish police does not kill man". Justice has failed once again Hasan Ocak, who was taken into custody and killed in 2005. The Ministry of Justice did not take any notice of the complaint about prosecutors made by the family of Hasan Ocak. The court examining the Ergenekon case did not accept the demand of the family to intervene. And so after 16 years, Hasan Ocak still has no justice.

Investigating a number of indictments about Hasan Ocak’s detention and murder, Fatih Public Prosecutor's Office ruled that no-prosecution was to be ordered against Beykoz District Gendarmerie teams, Istanbul Police Department Anti-Terror Branch and identification and fingerprint research teams. The attorney justified the decision by stating that “Turkish police does not torture and does not make anyone disappear under custody”.

There is no progress yet in the investigation conducted by Beykoz Public Prosecutor's Office either.

Ocak Family appealed to Ministry of Justice, stressing the fact that prosecutors failed to fulfill their duties.
