Norway's decision to resume exports of defense equipment to Turkey was protested in front of parliament in Oslo by Kurds and their friends.
The Norwegian Federation of Kurdish Associations (NCDK-OSLO) organized an action to protest Norway's decision to resume exports of defense equipment to Turkey. The action, in front of the parliament in Oslo, was supported by representatives of "Solidaritet med Kurdistan".
NCDK-OSLO co-chair Andam Aso said that since 2019, defense equipment exports to Turkey had been halted due to Turkish occupation operations in Syria, but this ban has now been lifted. Aso said: "We do not understand the sale of weapons to a dictatorial regime."
Internationalist Lida Weerts said that Turkey was damaging civilian infrastructure and violating international law.
Lida Weerts said that Norway should reverse this decision and prioritize human rights.
Tevgera Azad activist Rubar Yosif also said that they would fight against the attacks by the Turkish state and that it was time for the Bashur people to raise their voices against Turkish occupation policies.
Banners reading "Turkey Get Out of Kurdistan" and "Stop Weapons, Peace Immediately" were carried and slogans were chanted during the action. Norway and Turkey are NATO allies, and in 2018, defense equipment worth 41.4 million kronor was exported to Norway.
