Öcalan to make a comprehensive evaluation on Newroz day

Kurdish leader Öcalan said he would make a comprehensive evaluation on Newroz day, 21 March, in a letter which will be shared with the peoples of Turkey and world public opinion through the delegation.

HDP İmralı delegation spokesperson Sırrı Süreyya Önder spoke to ANF about the meeting they had with Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan yesterday.

According to Önder, the Kurdish leader said he would make a comprehensive evaluation on Newroz day, 21 March, in a letter which will be shared with the peoples of Turkey and world public opinion through the delegation.

The letter -Öcalan said- will include significant assessments regarding principal approaches and practical steps on the way to democratic resolution and peace.

Monitoring Committee

Önder said the Monitoring Committee issue was also discussed during yesterday's meeting in İmralı, adding; "We will discuss our efforts and the practical steps needed to be taken for the establishment of a Monitoring Committee, and make the issue clear following talks with the government and other circles within the next week."

Letter to Barzani and Talabani

Önder said he and HDP Amed deputy Leyla Zana will pay a visit to South Kurdistan in the coming days and have a series of talks with all Kurdish parties and structures in the region, Mr. Barzani and Mr. Talabani in the first place. He stated that they will convey the letters Öcalan has written to Barzani and Talabani, and that these meetings will handle the Kurdish National Congress, as well as policies and practical steps serving the elimination of the threats against Kurdish people in Rojava, Mosul, Kirkuk and Kobanê, and assuring the safety of the people. "We will convey Mr. Öcalan's proposals and warnings in this regard", he added.

New group of prisoners to be taken to İmralı for secretariat

Regarding the exchange of prisoners in prison on İmralı Island, Önder said; "The prisoners there were referred to another jail yesterday. A new group of 5 prisoners proposed by Mr. Öcalan will be referred to the island within a few days to serve as his secretariat."
