One body found near site of Uludere clashes

While authorities are giving no information about the bodies of Abdulkerim Tufan and Atanur Sahin who were among 10 Kurdish guerrillas who lost their life in Uludere two weeks ago, the body of an allegedly HPG member was found in the rural area of Taþdelen (Merwe) Village this morning. BDP Þýrnak Provincial Chair Abit Ýke expressed that the people will once more go to Uludere in mass if the military authorities don’t notify about the bodies.

As families can’t receive true information about the bodies of their children since the operation on 12-14 May, the family of Atanur Sahin arrived at Þýrnak this morning and appealed to Public Prosecution’s Office who once again didn’t provide any information about the bodies. Þahin’s family, just like Tufan’s family who met with Sýrnak Governor Vahdettin Ozkan  last week, received the same response from the Prosecution Office that they must wait as the bodies can’t be searched in the clash area which is still unsecured. The family said that they won’t leave there without taking the bodies.

Governor promised to ‘create a committee’ but no results yet

Having a meeting with Þýrnak Governor Vahdettin Ozkan yesterday, a committee of MEYADER and Peace Mothers Initiative was suggested by the governor that they should go to the clash area and take the bodies with the help of village-guards and soldiers to be provided by the Office for support. While Governor Ozkan still hasn’t given a clear response to families, local sources report that a committee of village-guards and villagers went to the rural area of the Yemiþli Village upon the governor’s instruction.
