One month ban imposed on Mardin

Governorship of Mardin has banned actions and demos in Mardin and its districts for 1 month.

Mardin Governorate's previously announced ban on action and demos has been extended for another month.

In a statement issued by the Governorate it was confirmed that the ban will be extended for another month and will involved Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, especially demos and activities planned by the HDP. Mardin municipality was seized by the government on 19 August and co-mayors replaced by trustees.

In the statement issued by the Governor's Office, the following statements regarding the prohibition announced were included: "According to law 2911 actions such as meetings, welcoming ceremonies, memorials, to be held by the institutions and organizations that are outside the scope of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations are banned."

Likewise the statement confirmed that the ban on all kinds of indoor and outdoor meetings and demonstrations, as well as marches, rallies, sit-in, information stands, press conferences will involve Mardin city centre and province. 

The new ban as began on Monday and will last 30 days.
