One more mass grave to be excavated

One more mass grave found in Bitlis will be excavated. The mass grave in Gelîyê Karoka region of Kokarsu (Arpêt) Village in Tatvan/Bitlis where allegedly 33 people were buried will be excavated following the application of Human Rights Association (ÝHD).

While applications continue following the excavation of the mass grave of 18 people in the garbage area next to the Mutki Gendarmerie Commandership in Mutki/Bitlis, one more mass grave in Tatvan province of Bitlis has been decided for excavation. Following the appeal to ÝHD Diyarbakýr Branch by Musa Kaya, brother of Süheyla Kaya who was among 33 guerrillas that lost their lives during a clash in 1999, ÝHD applied to the Van Prosecution Office to excavate the mass grave. Van Prosecution Office, upon the demand sent an instruction to Bitlis Prosecution Office for the excavation of the grave.

The grave is expected to be excavated after required preparations and examinations.
