Six Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) members were sentenced to one year in prison for attending a press conference in Bulanýk, a district of Muþ, called on the anniversary of Abdullah Öcalan’s capture.
Vice Mayor of Bulanýk Ali Topcu; Provincial Council Member Seyithan Akkaya; Co-Chair of BDP Branch Mahinur Taþ; and BDP County Executives, Ziya Bingöl, Yüksel Ergün and Zeki Gün were convicted by the Van 3rd Heavy Penal Court for “making propaganda for an illegal organization.”
In Diyarbakýr, seven Kurds were sentenced to some 49 years in total in prison for “making propaganda” and “violating the law on marches and demonstrations.”They took part in the protests in Diyarbakýr for anniversary of Öcalan’s capture.
Three of them, Ramazan Normal, Celal Ter and Mahmut Nas were already in prison, since February 15, 2010.
