Having been granted his demand to receive vegan food, prisoner Osman Evcan has announced the end of the hunger strike he began on 3 November at Kýrýkkale F-Type High Security Prison.
In a statement to bianet, Evcan’s lawyer Taylan Savran remarked that he would visit the prison next week to confirm the news which he had received from the prison psychologist Kezban Yavuz.
“The psychologist told me that Evcan wanted her to notify me about the end of his protest act since his demands for vegan food have been fulfilled.” said lawyer Savran.
Osman Evcan wrote a letter on 16 November to explain who he is, why he is in prison and how he adopted a vegan living culture.
A signature campaign was launched and protest acts were staged in many cities in November to demand vegan food for prisoner Evcan who was also supported by a wall newspaper published for him.
Can Baþkent from the Initiative for Vegan Food for Osman Evcan also voiced their demand for a minimum and standard vegan nutrition for Evcan.
