Over 100 thousand people affected by polluted water in Basra

Iraq Human Rights Commission confirmed some 110,000 people affected by polluted water in Basra.

Months of unrest in the oil-rich city of Basra, in Iraq, have still not settled when the news came from Iraq’s High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) confirming that some 110,000 people have been affected by water contamination.

The IHCHR also said that polluted water is also responsible for poisoning a certain number of students since the academic year in the city reopened.

The commission called on Baghdad central government and Basra government to work together in order to find a proper solution and take proper measure to deal with water salinity and pollution.
