HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) co-President Figen Yüksekdağ and HDP Executive committee and Party Assembly member and presidents of the ÖDP (Freedom and Democracy Party), Halkevleri (People’s Houses) and component parties of the HDP are on their way to the Kobanê border. At the border the party leaders will make a press statement in order to draw attention to the intensifying ISIS gang attacks on Kobanê.
ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed) President Sultan Ulusoy, SYKP (Socialist Party of Refoundation) co-President Tuncay Yılmaz, EMEP (Labour Party) President Selma Gürkan, SDP (Socialist Democracy Party) President Rıdvan Turan, Greens and Sol Gelecek Party co-spokesperson Sevil Turan, ÖDP co-President Bilge Seçkin Çetinkaya, EHP (Party of the Labor Movement) President Sibel Uzun and People’s Houses deputy President Samut Karabulut will also take part in the reading of the press statement.
Support for the resistance at the Kobanê-Suruç border has also come from elders at Alevi associations. A delegation of Alevi leaders travelled to Suruç, where they met DBP (Party of Democratic Regions) co-President Kamuran Yüksek, who explained that the government is manipulating figures for the purpose of establishing a buffer zone. The delegation consists of leaders of the Pir Sultan Abdal Association, Federation of Alevi Associations, Levhi Kalem Association, Alevi Ideas association, traditional elders and Zülfikar newspaper. The delegation were met at the DBP district office by DBP co-President Kamuran Yüksek and HDP Mersin MP Ertuğrul Kürkçü.
Kamuran Yüksek told the delegation that the government is exaggerating the number of those displaced from Kobane in order to justify its aim of setting up a buffer zone. The delegation then
Headed towards the border area where it will visit the people maintaining a vigil. The Alevi organisations will then issue a statement at the Mürşitpınar border crossing.
