The Peace Mothers Assembly made a statement in Fatih in Istanbul about the fire in Imralı. Perihan Akbulut expressed the concern of the Peace Mothers.

Akbulut stressed that it is necessary to immediately allow a visit with Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan in order to eliminate the concern. "Authorized institutions should make an urgent statement regarding this situation," said Akbulut.

Akbulut added: "No Kurd should stay at home until news of Öcalan are given. I call out to all Kurds: stand up! Öcalan's lawyers should be allowed to go to the island and meet with Öcalan."
