People attacked in Sirnak, three bodies taken by soldiers

Soldiers have hold on to the bodies of the Kurdish guerrillas who lost their life last Friday. The soldiers said they were holding on to the bodies because of the “prosecution’s decision to perform an autopsy”. Soldiers attacked the people who were crossing the borders with Federal Kurdistan Region to reclaim the bodies of the PKK guerrillas who lost their life in the clashes of some days ago. The people have refused to leave the border area and started a sit-in, confirming that they will not leave without the bodies of "their children".

The crowd was first stopped by soldiers who opened fire in the air and attacked the people with tear gas. The crowd responded by throwing stones to the soldiers and refused to hand over the bodies to soldiers. Eventually the bodies were taken by soldiers and brought to Bilican Border Police Station.

It is reported that a high number of people have been wounded during the attack, and soldiers opened fire at intervals to disperse the crowd. Some women in the crowd, attacked by police, responded with tree branched they cut from trees.

While Uludere Governor and Public Prosecutor are reported to have arrived at the scene, BDP Co-Chair Filiz Kocali, Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block candidates Gültan Kýsanak, Hasip Kaplan and Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir held talks with the prosecutor and the governor on behalf of thousands of people waiting for the bodies.

Tension continues in the region where an intense air military activity is reported while troops have been deployed everywhere. (B.O.)
