Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Siirt Provincial Organization condemned the detention and dismissal of the elected co-mayors.

HDP Group Deputy Chair, Meral Danış Beştaş, Member of Parliament Sıddık Taş, Peace Mothers Assembly members and parties attended the press statement organised in front of the HDP city building.

Meral Danış Beştaş said: "20 meters away, the municipality has ceased to be a municipality. In his first speech, the trustee declared the municipality as the municipality of the state. The municipality has ceased to be the municipality of the people. The municipalities of Siirt, Kurtalan, Baykan and Iğdır are no longer municipalities. The trustees are being protested through thousands of tweets sent from social media."

Underlining that everyone should react to the trustees, Beştaş said: "If the trustees are appointed to Izmir today, the Siirt people will feel the same. We do not distinguish between provinces."

After the speech a five minute sit-in was carried out to protest the seizure of the municipalities.
