People stop destruction of olive groves in Ikizköy

Employees of Yeniköy Thermal Power Plant took the opportunity of the lockdown in Ikizköy, in the Milas district of Muğla and tried to cut olive groves to build a conveyor belt. However, they were prevented by the people from doing so.
In order to make a coal conveyor belt for the Yeniköy Thermal Power Plant in İkizköy, Milas, the company asked employees to cut olive groves taking advanted of the lockdown declared for the coronavirus emergency.
However, the company's initiative was blocked by the villagers.
Citizens complained to the gendarmerie that cutting the olive grove was against the law. Ikizköy residents published a written statement on the tree cutting attempt in the press and Muğla Environment Platform (MUÇEP) also issued a protest statement.
