Kurdish guerrillas belonging to the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK) attacked a military vehicle of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in response to the execution of Kurdish political prisoner Husen Xizri. Husen Xizri was executed on 5th January for his involvement in PJAK.

Following his execution, massive protests of Kurdish people sparked in all parts of Kurdistan as well as Europe and PJAK warned it would respond to such an inhuman act by the Iranian regime. The attack against the military vehicle of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards happened in Besarani Square in Meriwan city on Saturday 19th and killed 5 Iranian commanders.
