PKK released details of operation in Uludere

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press and Communication Center has released today details of the operation in the Uludere area.

In a press release the HPG said that "As stated in the media in recent days, the Turkish army carried out operations in the Haftanin and Kasura regions between 12-14 May. The army clearly intended to cross the border. Again at the same dates, an attempt to cross the border from Uzümlü village of Çukurca/Hakkari and the surroundings had been made by the Turkish army".

According to the HPG press release "the Turkish army clearly planned and carried out these operations taking advantage of the self defense position of our guerrilla forces. It is clear that the operations required a long preparation considering the highly technical weapons used. A substantial military shipment - continued the statement - and special operation teams had been deployed to the region of Yekmal village and the Aruþ (Ortaköy) area of Uludere/Sýrnak days before the clashes". According to HPG "These units, moving forward across the boarder on May 12, directly targeted the guerrilla positions in our Media Defense Areas and the locations of our guerrilla forces".

The guerrillas opposed a fierce resistance. And as a result of the clashes 10 guerrillas lost their life. The Turkish army suffered heavy casualties, with 8 soldiers killed.

Three more guerrillas identities have been disclosed today: Gever Firaz (born in Mako, East Kürdistan, in 1989), Zinar Oramar (born in Hakkari in 1990) and Þiyar Erkendi (born in Siirt in 1988).
