Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan will today lead a security summit in Ankara that will see the participation of Chief of General Staff Gen. Ýlker Baþbuð, as well as other prominent officials.
“These sorts of attacks targeting the unity and integrity of Turkey will not succeed in reaching their aims,” Erdoðan told deputies yesterday referring to the latest stream of attacks by the PKK.
Noting that the government had launched its Kurdish initiative to stop the bloodshed, Erdoðan said the attacks were aimed at blocking Turkey’s path toward better democratic standards. Comments that sounded even more hypocritical than ever because pronounced after the one hour speech in which Erdoðan strongly attacked Israel because of the deadly attack to the peace convoy heading to Gaza. Erdoðan used words such as "this attack is on international law, the conscience of humanity and world peace. Israel in no way can legitimize this murder" which clearly could be applied to Turkey's attitude towards the Kurds.
