PM Erdogan, or the rhetoric that doesn't pay

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed a crowd consisting largely of members of Ensarioðlu Tribe and Hezbollah supporters in Diyarbakýr. He did not put a clear emphasis on the Kurdish problem and held up Selahattin Eyyubi as an example sending the message that “ethnical origin is not important”.

Asserting that PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan is considered as a prophet, Erdogan expressed his annoyance at the civil Friday Prayer.

Describing the people demonstrating yesterday against himself in Hopa as “gang and terrorist", Erdogan claimed that stones are given to children by some organizations.

Erdogan said that the assimilation on Kurds has ended within the AKP period and justified his assertion with the (alleged) permission granted to Kurdish prisoners to speak Kurdish during meetings with their families.

Forgetting about his statements of three week ago that “There is no Kurdish problem, my Kurdish brothers have problems”, Erdogan remarked that the CHP (Republican People’s Party) denies the existence of the Kurdish problem.

Erdogan once more criticized the absence of Turkish flags during the Hakkari meeting of the CHP.

The Prime Minister claimed that they started the process of national unity and said; “Will we live and breathe the Kurdish problem or the problem of Southeast till death”

Showing the AKP member Kurdish MPs, majority of whom was excluded from the list before elections, Erdogan claimed that they don’t discriminate people.

Erdogan explained that the new libertarian and democratic constitution they will issue after the elections will be adopted by the people of all provinces.

It drew attention that Erdogan assessed the civil disobedience actions promoted by the BDP as “civil fascism”.

Promising a civil airport, stadium in Diyarbakýr and a highway between Diyarbakir and Urfa, Erdogan presented the projects of BDP Metropolitan Municipality on Surici and Dicle coastline as his own projects.

SHUTTERS TAKEN DOWN ALONG ERDOGAN’S ROUTE

While the shutters were all taken down along Erdogan’s route from the airport to the meeting square, police took intense security measures with heavy weapons at the entrance of all streets in the city.

Just after Erdogan’s landing on Diyarbakýr, the offices of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block Candidates were blockaded by police and the people around were blocked to move.

Hundreds of people waiting in front of the Block’s Diyarbakýr Emine Ayna were attacked by police with sticks. Some people are reported injured with stick hits during the police intervention.

PEOPLE IN CINAR ATTACKED BY POLICE

Police carried out an attack with gas bombs on the demonstrators who staged a protest in Cýnar district against the mass attending Prime Minister Erdogan’s Diyarbakýr meeting.

Blockading the Cýnar way and the convoy moving from Mardin and its districts to Diyarbakýr for the meeting, hundreds of people chanted slogans against the AKP and the Prime Minister Erdogan. Young demonstrators, making a barricade on the way with the tires they burnt, were attacked by police with gas bombs. While the clash between police and young demonstrators continued for some time, the citizens showed reaction to the mass, saying; “We are staging our democratic right reaction. Why are you intervening us? The AKP power and Erdogan are the responsible for the cruelty in the country, particularly in Diyarbakýr. We will not allow the meeting’s mass pass from here.”
