Thousands of people trying to join Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakýr have been under attack from police since this morning.
In their thousands Kurds were pouring on the streets of the city where today the biggest celebration of the week dedicated to Newroz (Kurdish New Year) have been under a vicious attack from police using tearing gas and baton charging.
Among the people stopped by police were BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ and many BDP deputies.
The areas of Baðlar, Kayapýnar and Sur are witnessing people trying to protect themselves from the vicious police attack by putting up barricates.
It is understood that police are preventing people coming from outside the city to reach Diyarbakýr. Clashes continue.
