Police attacked funeral

Police yesterday attacked the crowd attending the funeral of PKK member Neþirvan Yasinoðlu whose bones were discovered in a mass grave in Çemiþgezek (Dersim) in July 2011. The citizens saw off the convoy to Uludere despite intense tear gas.

Yasinoðlu was buried in Uludere with the attendance of hundreds including Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) executives, mayors from the region and the Mesopotamian Association of Help and Solidarity For Families of Missing Persons (MEYA-DER) members.

Medeni Aktar said on behalf of MEYA-DER, "The police's attack in Cizre is a sign of the intolerance for the Kurds' owning of their children. They shall indeed fear our persistent struggle."
