Police blow up doors and windows during midnight raid in Halfeti, Urfa

Apparently on the basis of a false denunciation, a special unit of the Turkish police raided a residential neighborhood in Halfeti at three in the morning and blew open 15 front doors. Nothing was found during the search.

A police task force stormed 15 houses during a nighttime raid in the Halfeti district of Urfa. Doors were blown open and windows smashed during the raid in the neighborhood of Aftar (Kurugöl) at three in the morning on November 12. According to the residents, numerous armored cars drove into the neighborhood. The policemen entered houses, vandalized the household, and forced those present to lie on the ground. After six hours, the task force left the village without making any arrests.

The police officers reportedly stated that there was a complaint and that terrorists were in the village. No compensation has yet been paid for the property damage sustained. Residents of the neighborhood report that their children are no longer able to sleep due to fear.
