Six people, including TUAY-DER co-chair Mehmet Emin Guzel, were detained in new political genocide operations in Amed.
Police raided a number of houses in Amed this morning as part of the political genocide ordered by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
As a result of the raids, a number of people were taken into custody. These include Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Bağlar city council member Vahit Doğru, TUAY-DER (Prisoners’ Families Solidarity Association) co-chair Mehmet Emin Güzel, executive Şafi Hayme and members Leyla Ayaz, Abdulmenaf Kur, Müşeher Ülker.
TUAY-DER's offices in Kayapınar Huzurevleri Mahallesi were also raided.
Shafi Hayme, director of TUAY-DER, is reported as having been tortured and then detained. His wife Şadiye Hayme said: "They entered the house in a fury. They threw my husband on the ground and started kicking him. When I said ‘what are you doing?’ they pulled my hair and threw me on the floor saying ‘sleep, sleep’. Also when my daughter told them ‘he is an old man, what are you doing?’, they threw her on the floor and kicked her. They put a gun on her head and kept her down on her back.”
