The mass and enhanced resistance of Istanbul's people forced police to withdraw from the Taksim Square.

Tens of thousands have entered the square and the Gezi Park where demonstrations first started five days ago.

People are chanting slogans, saying “Taksim is ours, Istanbul is ours”.
