Police officers casting votes unlawfully in Halfeti

Police officers transported to Halfeti from Mersin, Adana, Antalya and Konya are casting votes unlawfully.

A large number of riot police have been transferred to Halfeti district of Urfa for today’s local elections.

The riot policemen brought to Halfeti from Mersin have cast their votes in a polling station in the district despite the fact that none of them was seen bearing the document that authorizes their voting in a city other than where they are registered.

Since last night, several voters have been brought to the district from cities such as Mersin, Adana, Antalya and Konya in police vehicles.

In the meantime, armored police vehicles are patrolling in the district center and trustee Şeref Albayrak is reported to be trying to remove HDP’s polling clerks and observers out of the polling stations.

In the rural neighborhood of Hilallı, some people are reportedly casting their votes openly. Discussion erupted between HDP polling clerks who intervened the situation and the police and AKP polling clerks. Voting has been suspended at the station after the intervention of HDP people and lawyers as discussions between HDP’s and AKP’s polling clerks continue.
