One police officer died and one was wounded in an armed attack against a patrolling police vehicle in Bismil district of Diyarbakýr on 26 December.

According to the information received, the attack was carried out at the police control point in Dicle Neighborhood at around 17:15 local time.

While one of the wounded police officers died at Bismil State Hospital, an operation was launched in the area after the attack.

In connection with the attack, a number of houses were raided by police in Bismil district on 27 December morning. At least 20 people were reported taken into custody.

Ömer Oruç, father of H. Ýbrahim Oruç who was shot dead by police on 20 April, was also reported taken into custody.

While the reason of detentions remains unknown, detainees were taken to Bismil District Security Directorate.
