A policeman has died as a result of heavy clashes yesterday in the city of Cizre (Þýrnak).

Yesterday's Newroz celebration was attacked by police from the very beginning and Cizre was turned into a battlefield. Scores of people have been wounded and beaten by police and many have been taken into custody.

Police opened fire on the crowd with live bullets. It is understood the policeman who died this morning suffered a fatal gun shot.
