Political genocide operation against Kurdish politicians in Kars

Several Kurdish politicians have been detained in Kars province.

Turkish police carried out yet another political genocide operation against Kurdish politicians in Kars province Friday morning.

A number of houses were raided and many politicians were taken into custody as part of the operation.

Those detained in the operation are: HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) former MP Şafak Özanlı, DBP (Democratic Regions’ Party) Kars provincial co-chair Cengiz Anlı, HDP Kars provincial co-chair Ekrem Savcı, HDP former provincial co-chair Cengiz Topbaşlı, HDP Group Deputy Chair Ayhan Bilgen’s advisor Hayati Mehmetoğlu.

The detained politicians were taken to provincial security directorate.

HDP Group Deputy Chair Ayhan Bilgen protested the arrests on his Twitter account, saying; “The campaign has begun soon after the announcement of the election calendar.”

On the other hand, HDP Party Assembly former member Zeki Koç, who had been detained in İskenderun district of Hatay the day before, has been remanded in custody.

Koç is accused of “membership to an illegal organization”, “spreading propaganda for an illegal organization” and “aiding and abetting an illegal organization”.
