Families of prisoners on hunger strike demanding the end of isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan demonstrated in Mersin.
The Prisoners' Families Solidarity Association (TUAY-DER) held a press conference at its Tarsus Branch. HDP Adana MP Tulay Hatimogullari, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executives and dozens of prisoners joined the mothers in their press conference.
TUAY-DER Tarsus Branch executive Kadri Ezer said the government was trying to liquidate all opposition forces, especially the Kurdish people, who were resisting in the country.
Ezer added: “The policy of isolation has turned the country into a land where the mothers are forced to bury their children. Mr. Öcalan is not just a person, he represents the will of the people. Negotiation with Öcalan, will give peace a chance in this country. For this isolation should be ended.”
Ezer said: “Isolation should be lifted. Prisoners should not die and peace should be ensured. The government should take concrete steps immediately to end isolation.”
