Prisoners on hunger strike call on people to go to the polls

Prisoners said success in March 31 elections would be an important verge with respect to breaking the isolation.

142 political prisoners on indefinite non-alternating hunger strike in Mardin E Type Closed Prison sent a message calling on the people of Turkey and North Kurdistan to go to the polls in tomorrow’s local elections and manifest their free will against the AKP-MHP fascist alliance.

The prisoners, who demand the end of the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, offered their condolences to the families of prison martyrs who have carried out sacrifice actions and ended their lives in protest at the isolation of Öcalan.

“OUR RESISTANCE WILL CONTINUE AND WE WILL WIN”

The message sent with the signature of “Mardin Prison Political Prisoners” said the following;

We continue with great determination our hunger strike action launched under the leadership of Leyla Güven against the aggravated isolation on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Our comrades Zülküf Gezen, Zehra Sağlam, Ayten Beçet and Medya Çınar are the greatest indication of the fact that we continue our struggle in Mardin Prison with 142 comrades with great commitment and determination. We bow before the memories of our comrades with respect, and we offer our condolences to our people and the families of our comrades. The AKP-MHP fascist bloc's obstruction of even their funerals, has taken its place among the inhuman acts it has committed. Despite all this, let the friend and foe know that our struggle will continue and victory will be ours.”

“ELECTION RESULTS WILL AFFECT THE ISOLATION”

Regarding tomorrow’s local elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan, the prisoners said; “Success in March 31 elections will be an important verge with respect to breaking the isolation. Results of the elections will be a great morale to the prisons where our struggle continues, and will be an important cause in carrying our struggle to a further level. For this reason, we call on our people to go to the polls against the fascist bloc in March 31 elections, to claim their votes and our resistance which we launched to end the isolation.”
