Prosecutor asks 70 years in prison for Tuðluk

The trial of Van Independent MP Aysel Tuðluk continued at Diyarbakýr 4th High Criminal Court on 7 February. DTK (Democratic Society Congress) co-chair Tuðluk was sued because of 12 speeches she made at different dates in Diyarbakýr.

While the trial was attended by Tuðluk lawyers Fethi Gümüþ and Sedat Yurttaþ, the counsel for the prosecution demanded Tuðluk to be sentenced in line with a former trial.

Tuðluk’s lawyer Fethi Gümüþ demanded the summons of the files of former cases opened against Tuðluk at Diyarbakýr 6th and 7th High Criminal Courts and said that; “We demand extra time for the last time as we are waiting for the enactment of amendments at the parliament on a law draft which consists of provisions on the crimes imputed to my client.”

The court board adjourned the trial for the defense of defense lawyer.

The prosecutor asked up to 70 years in prison for Tuðluk who is charged with “spreading propaganda for a terror organization” and “committing crimes on behalf of a terror organization despite not being a member of it” in connection with 12 separate speeches she made in Diyarbakýr between the years of 2005 and 2009.
