A group of Kurds held a protest against the AKP for appointing trustees to 24 Kurdish municipalities in a coup to the will of the people during the commencement ceremonies for the new legislative year in front of the Swedish Parliament.
Kurdish demonstrators gathered in Mynttorget Square next to the parliament as the ministers and MPs were entering the building and they carried a banner that read “Freedom For Öcalan, Peace In Kurdistan” and many signs condemning the coup against municipalities and the massacres in Kurdistan.
The police took extensive security measures around the parliament because of the protest. Some officers were seen carrying long barrelled weapons.
Kurds held another protest during the ceremony in the evening in Konserhuset. Activists held a banner that read “Turkey=ISIS” and carried signs condemning the massacres in Kurdistan and the coup against the Kurdish municipalities. The crowd chanted “Murderer Erdoğan”, “Bloody hands off Kurdistan”, “Turkish army out of Kurdistan”, “Biji Serok Apo” and “Freedom for Öcalan, Peace in Kurdistan”.
