Protest against isolation in Sydney

In Sydney, in solidarity with the prisoners and politicians on hunger strike, a protest against the isolation of the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan has taken place.

In solidarity with the Kurdish protest movement "Break the Isolation, Destroy Fascism, Free Kurdistan", an action has taken place in the Australian city of Sydney. Numerous Kurdish people gathered at Cirqular Quay/Custom House Square to express their support for the demand of Leyla Güven and thousands of prisoners and activists on hunger strike.

The hunger strike movement initiated by DTK leader and HDP MP Leyla Güven in November of last year calls for the removal of the isolation of PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan, who has been imprisoned on the Turkish prison island of Imrali for more 20 years. The mass protest, which involves around 7,000 prisoners in Turkish prisons alone, calls for conditions for the leader of the Kurdish liberation movement, in which he can live and work freely, thereby contributing to the solution of the Kurdish question.

The protesters in Sydney expressed their support for these demands and called on the Australian government and civil society organizations to take action. "Isolation is a crime against humanity, do not turn a blind eye," said the banners and posters.
